Artist’s Statement —

At dusk, in winter, walking along Grange Avenue in Little Compton, Rhode Island, suddenly the luminosity of small red berries against the varied grays of branches with no leaves and bits of snow. This became both an emotional and visual memory; an "occasion" to explore in this Winterberry abstract series. These paintings reach into this memory to find color relationships, structure, knotted space, and light.
